At Douglas on 9ft l Inst, a good yarding of both sheep and cattle met with fair enquiry throughout. Although prices did not strengthen to any extent, vendors in most cases were sellers, and little of the offering remained unsold. Lambs ss, 6-tooth wethers Ils 3d, 2-tooth do. 9s, smaller do. 6s, f.m. ewes Ils, f. and f.m. ewes 5s 6d, store cows £2 ss, forward do. £3 2s Gd, 18-unonth steers £2 Is 6d, 2%-year do. £3, mixed weaners 16s. At Stony River on 10th inst. we report a good yarding of all classes of cattle, and a bright sale throughout. Prices did notchange to any extent, but enquiry was spirited up to late sale value. The sale was a little one for dairy cattle, although the yarding of same comprised small and only fair quality sorts. Slips Gs, lambs 7s Gd, store cows 32s to 40s, fresh conditioned do. £2 17s 6d, fat do. £4 12s, £5 7s 6d, weaner steers Bs, 9s 6d, 13s Gd, mixed weaners 16s, weaner heifers 14s to 18s 6d, Jersey do. £3, £3 12s 6d, small in-calf heifers £3 3s Gd, £4, forward do. £6 12s 6d, £7 7s 6d, springing do. £ll, springing cows £8 ss, £lO. At Waiwakaiho on 13th inst. the yarding was a good one of both store and dairy cattle. Stores were in rather poor demand, and prices for weaners especially down in consequence, but most of the offering sold. Mixed aged ewes 8s 3d, do. (in lamb) 8s Gd, store cows 14s, 255, to 39s 6d, fat do, £4 7s Gd, weaner heifers 13s, Jersey cross do. £2 15s, weaner Jersey bulls 20s to £3 12s 6d, 2-year steers £2 ss, 20-month jn-calf heifers, small and poor condition but fair quality £4 7s. The yarding of dairy cattle' was a large i one, including a. dairy herd on account of Mr. ’ L. Hill, and a line of very nice quality 2-year Jersey heifers on account of Mr. A. J. Lux- ’ ton. The attendance of buyers was a large 1 one, and enquiry remarkably good considering the early part of the season. Mr. Hill's 1 cows were a. nice quality lot and all young, ' but were in rather poor condition. They ’ afforded good competition nevertheless, ana
sold to as high as £l5 ss, the (majority at prices ranging from £9 to £l3. Mr. Luxton’s heifers were full of quality and eagerly soueht alter. Two, one at profit and another close up, realised £22 15s and £22 respectively. Others, spring calvers, sold in lines of 6 and 7, made £l6 and £l7 10s.
