LONDON MARKETS.

The Hororata’s New Zealand shipment has commenced discharge and appears to be in good condn-on, though some, apparently were carried at a low temperature. • About 2000 cases v.ere auctioned in Pudding Lane, and there keen competition as the market was almost bare. Prices: Cox’s Orange, 16s *- n 21s : Dunn’s Seedling, 22s to 255; Jonathan’s 21s to 245; Worcesters 19s to 20s; Reinettes 18s to 21s; Ribstones 14s.
BRIGHTER TONE EVIDENT.
Fellding, May 12. There was a brighter tone evident at the Fellding sale on Friday, when a small yarding of sheep and a fairly large yarding of cattle was offered to a good attendance of buyers. Tte sheep brought forward were a very fair lot, generally’ speaking, with the exception of white-faced lambs, of which no really good sorts were offered. There was a distinct improvement in fat sheep prices, two exceptional lots of two-tooth ewes bringing 17s and 17s 2d. There was also a better demand for wethers. Other lines sold at about late sales' rates.
The cattle penned were for the most part well conditoined animals, and for these and any good quality beasts the demand was much keener. Dairy stock also sold well. Average prices for the sale were as under: Small lambs 4s lOd to ss, tmedium b.f. lambs to ' 13s 4d, medium ewes 7s to 10s, twotooth wethers to Ils 9d, fat two-tooth wethers 13s 3d to 16s lOd, empty two-tooth ewes to 9s, fat two-tooth ewes 17s to 17s 2d.
.Store cows made £2 8s to £2 18s 6d, forward cows to £3 13s 6d, fat cows £4 17s 6d to £5 15s, low-conditioned 2%-year steers £2 10s to £3 2s 6d, 3 and 4-year bullocks to £5 Is, fat steers to £9 14s (a good line), small weaner steers 7s 6d to 10s, small weaner heifers Ils to 245, a choice line of Hereford weaner steers £2 3s (a decided improvement), Jersey-cross weaner heifers £2 3s to £3 12s 6d, Holstein-cross weaner heifers 81s, dairy Jersey heifers (late calvers) to £9 2s 6d, cows in milk 35s to £6, springing cows £7 to £l7 ss, Jersey springing heifers £l3 to £l5 10s, dairy cows £6 to £l4 10s, Jersey yearling heifers £3 12s 6d.
WEEKLY REPORTS.
The Farmers' Co-op. Auctioneering Co. Ltd. (Hamilton branch) report:—
At Hamilton, on Thursday May 12th, we had an average yarding of all classes of stock and cleared practically everything. The demand for beef was weaker, steers making from 9s to 10s, cows to £6 2s 6d, forward cows £2 5s to £4, store cows 15s to £1 ss. The demand for store cattle of all classes was dull tkroughout, 2% to 3-year steers making from £5 to £5 10s, Shorthopi cows in calf to Polled Angus bulls £ 2 2s 6d, good calves made, to 20s, small from 5s to 10s, dairy cows were poorly represented, making from £9 10s to £lO 10s. Fat sheep showed a ■slight improvement. No fat wethers were penned. Fat ewes made to 15s 6d, forward wethers to 15s 6d, forward ewes Ils to 12s, launbs (fair) 9s 6d. Pigs were in much better demand than last week, baconers making from 3s 15s to £B, porkers £1 10s to- £2 10s, slips 15s to £1 10s, weaners 8s to 12s 6d.
The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. (Hawera branch) report as follows: At Palmer Road on Friday, 6th inst., we had a full yarding. The whole of the grown cattle were sold under the hammer at late values, but bidding was not so keen at tte weaner pens. We quote: Fat cows (medium) to £4 Ils, forward ditto £2 to £3 ss, stores (good sorts) 30s to 38s, others 15s to £os, bulls 30s to £2, weaner heifers Jersey cross £2, others 17s 5d to 245. On Monday, 9th. inst., at Kakaramea, we quote; Good conditioned cows £2 ss, stores 19s to 30s, lambs b.f. 8s sd, others (medium) ss. 4d to 8s 4d.
We held our Eltham sale on Tuesday, owing to Wednesday being the Hawera races. We had only a small entry, and the prices were at late rates.
We also held our Hawera sale on Friday owing to Thursday being also a race day. We had a full yarding of sheep and a small one of cattle. There was a small attendance of buyers, and competition was dull throughout. We quote: 2-tooth wetters 12s lOd, 2-tooth ewes 13 9d, fat lambs 12s, store cows 20s to 365.
The Farmers' Co-op. Organisation Society of N.Z., Ltd., report as follows:
At Stratford, on Tuesday, we had a. moderate yarding of sheep and cattle. Fat and store cows were on a par with late rates. Jersey weaner heifers sold at prices slightly in advance of late rates. Fat cows made up to £5, forward empty ditto £3, boners £1 to 355, Jersey weaner heifers to £2 ss, good mixed colored heifers to £2 10s, other breeds to 255, lambs to 6s, steers calves 10s to 13s.
On Wednesday, at Inglewood, we had a fair yarding of sheep and cattle. Ordinary ewes in lamb made ss, lambs ss, good conditioned cows £3 to £4, boner cows £1 to 355, in-calf heifers, two and a half years, to £6, 18nmonth ditto to £4, Jersey weaner heifers to £4 15s, otters to 20s, dairy cows £lO to £ll, heifers at profit to £8 10s, dairy cows spring calvers to £9. At Auroa, on Friday, we had a big yarding of cattle. Prices were on about a par with late rates. Fat cows made to £5 10s, forward empty cows £3 to £4, boner cows £1 to 355, old ditto 10s, Jersey weaner heifers £2 10s to £3 ss, other breeds to 225, sows to farrow £l, lambs 6s.
