GOOD FOR LAND OR SEA.
NEW. TYPE OF FLYING MACHINE.
London, April 29. An amphibious flying machine made good to-day. Major-General Sir Frederick Sykes, Controller-General of Civil Aviation, travelled to Paris on a machine which, journeying from Croydon aerodrome, landed on the Thames at Westminster under 10 minutes, and then started in a rather strong wind for Paris. It reached the French capital in 170 minutes and landed on the Seine, where it will undergo the tests already carried out on the Thames as essential for an air postal service.
