BRITAIN AND THE SOVIET.

The Court of Appeal has decided that as Britain has recognised the Soviet Government as the de facto Government of Russia, it is not within the jurisdiction of the English Courts to interfere with decrees which confiscated goods from Russia. Hence the contract under which Krassin sold wood to Britain will not be disturbed.

GERMAN SHIPPING FUSION.

Berlin, May 12. Negotiations have been satisfactorily concluded for the fusion of the Kosmos Steamship Company, of Hamburg, and the German-Australian Company. A common management will be established, the tonnage pooled and profits equally divided. The object of the fusion is to prevent competition. LEVY ON GERMAN EXPORTS.

London, May 12. In the House of Commons, Mr. Hilton Young, replying to Mr. Wedgwood Benn, said British receipts, from the levy on German exports since April 2 amounted to £9OOO.
