COMPANY WITH A PATENT.
CHARGE AGAINST PROMOTER.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A motor wind screen case was before the Supreme Court to-day, when George William Thomas was charged with obtaining from Joseph Patrick Beamish '£lso by falsely representing that he possessed the patent rights to a motor screen, and with obtaining £225 by the same means from James Barbery, knd £5O from another.
Accused advertised for a partner, and got in touch with Beamish. The latter said Thomas said he was Captain Thomas, of the Flying Corps, and he said he held the Australasian rights for the screen. Beamish went in as partner and paid the money over to accused, who subsequently asked for more. Beamish consulted a solicitor, who advised him to apply for a refund. When Beamish did not do so accused suggested Beamish should withdraw and leave him and Barbery to boost the business. No money was forthcoming. The case is proceeding.
