WOOL REALISATION.

THE “8.A.W.R.A.” SCHEME.

BRITISH AND SOUTH AMERICAN WOOL.

Some of the details of the wool realisation scheme were to be placed before the Producers’ Standing Committee yesterday. The directors of the British-Aus-tralian Wool Realisation Association are hoping to handle the South African wool as well as the Australian and New Zealand wool, and it is stated that the period they have in mind is five years, including the present season. That is to say. they would control the sale of the 1920-21 clip and the four -following clips. They will not be able to control the British clip and there have been no indications that the .South American growers will come into the schme. The expectation that British and South American growers will retain a free market is one of the reasons why the B.A.W.R.A. scheme requires very careful consideration before it is applied to New Zealand, where the bulk of the clip is coarse wool. The quantity of wool already controlled by the B.A.W.R.A. is over 2,500,000 bales. It is understood that if 'the five season term is adopted, this old wool will be placed on the market in the proportion of one bale of old wool to one bale of new wool. The organisation will sell the wool on a commission basis on bejialf of the producers.
