The boundaries of the Thames borough, Wanganui Couj|y, and Castle' cliff town district have been altered since 1916. The Hauraki Plains County, Pat Utah i Town District, and Tahunafiui Town District were not constituted in 1916. HAWERA’S POPULATION. The population of Ha were. borough, one of the smallest boroughs in NtfW Zealand, having an area of only 760 acres, is 4148. The census taken laMt month shows that the borough contains 2053 males and 2095 females. The population at the 1916 census was 3376. The growth of population in the five years is therefore 773. —Star. GISBORNE. A telegram from Gisborne says the census returns for Gisborne borough is 5426 males and 6548 females, a total of 10,974, against a total of 9174 in 1916. NELSON. The census shows that the population of Nelson City is 9342 and the suburban population 875. At the last census the city had 8774 and the suburbs 1188 inhabitants.
