MR. W. T. JENNINGS, M.P.

FAREWELL AT WAITARA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Waitara, May 10.

A farewell social on Monday evening to Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P., who has represented the district for a number'’ ■of years, and who is leaving shortly for a trip to the Old Country, was well attended by his many friends. During the evening Mr. Jennings received from the Mayor, on behalf of the citizens of Waitara, a travelling bag and a purse of notes in recognition of his services during the time he had represented the district. Songs were given by Messrs. Wiseman, Firkin and Fox and the Misses Langman, Parry and Bullot, all being well received and encored. Mrs. Wiseman and Mr. M. Fowler were at the piano, and Mr. H. Wells played the violin. Mr. E; Procter was M.C. Dancing was also held, and a most enjoyable evening was spent.
