ENGLISH MASQUERADERS.
The popularity of the English Masqueraders drew another large audience to the Empire Theatre, New Plymouth/ last night, when the company made its final appearance here. The entertainment is characterised by it© brightness and the high quality of the items. The vocal portion of the programme is ably sustained by Miss Gwen Lester, Miss Ethel Hartley, Miss Winnie Lee, and Messrs. Leslie Jephett and Lance Fairfax. A varied repertoire was presented, and demands for recalls were frequent. As a comedian Leslie Holmes found much favor, and the audience had an insatiable desire for his items, while Miss Nellie McGuire (comedienne) also took a creditable share in this part of the programme The costuming and the staging of. the various acts were a contributing factor in the success of the Masqueraders, and they were ably backed up by an orchestra whose jazz specialty was very popular.
