In an address to the Grand Jury the Judge reviewed several amendments made to the First Offenders’ Probation Act since first applied in 188 d and added “judging by the small number of relapses that have taken place the First Offenders’ Act has proved an eminent success and it is to be hoped that under the law as it pow stands further success will be achieved.” There arc 14 prisoners for trial. Wellington, Last Night. At the Supreme Court true bills were found by the Grand Jury in all cases for hearing. John James Monaghan pleaded not guilty to indecently assaulting a boy at Island Bay. The jury returned a verdict of guilty, with a recommendation that the boy.be put under stricter control. Prisoner was remanded for sentence.

Edward Robert Stone pleaded guilty to ten chargee of forgery and uttering wages allotment orders issued by the Union Steam Ship Company. He was reMMt&drt ter teatexmA.
