STRATFORD GUN CLUB.

MEMBERS’ SHOOT. The Stratford Gun Club held a shoot for members on Messrs. Nelson and Green’s property, East Road, Stratford, on Saturday afternoon, when there was a good gathering of the best shots, who were anxious for practice in view of the £lOO shoot and championship on the 24th and 25th irist. on the show grounds. The standard of the shooting was good all round, and it would not be surprising to find that the coveted honor of the championship of the Dominion for clay shooting is won by one of the local enthusiasts. Three open sweepstakes were held, and a shoot for four novices. The former were all twelve-bird competitions. The first was closely contested, F. Wittie 20yds and J. Martin 10yds breaking the possible, while A. Nelson 15yds and A. E. Brown 16yds had 11 each to their credit. Other scores were as follows: H. Harrison, G. W. Hurrell, B. C. Wheeler and L. V. H. Mellor 10, B. Green, F. Casey, and S. D. Coleman 9, A. Mitchell

No. 2 shoot saw five tie with 11 out of 12. These were: Casey 15yds, Brown 16yds, Hurreli 11yds, Martin 11yds, and Wheeler 14yds. Other scores: Harrison, Nelson, J. Petrie 10, Whittle and Coleman 9, Mitchell 7.

No. 3 shoot resulted in three possibles being registered, namely, Nelson 15yds, Harrison 18yds, and Whittle 20yds. Wheeler, Ca sey, and Breen broke 11, Hurrell and Mitchell 10, Satler 4, and Coleman retired.

The novice shoot resulted: J. D. Dick 6 (possible), N. Satler 5, W. Darragh and Norcross 2.

A meeting of the executive was held op the ground, when arrangements for the big events this month were advanced a stage. The medal for the championship has been specially designed, and is valued at nearly £2O.
