BOXING.
TOURNAMENT AT NEW PLYMOUTH. Interest is being aroused in the Taranaki Boxing Association’s forthcoming tournament, which takes place ,in the Empire Theatre, New Plymouth, next Friday night. The principals In the professional bout, Tommy Thompson and George Richardson, are both preparing to enter the ring in the pink of condition. As the purse of £lOO all goes to the winner, that will also make the bout more interesting. Both men are evenly matched, and both sides are confident of victory. Hart, the well-known New South Wales boxer, is assisting Richardson as sparring partner.; while Bert Facoorey, the clever professional bantam-weight, is acting in a similar capacity for Thompson. The bout gives promise of being the best seen in New Plymouth, and patrons should not want for excitement.
