PROTEST AGAINST ’TAXATION.

The Taxation Department has issued many summonses for the recovery of taxes. A largely attended public meeting resolved to resist payment until Parliamentary representation is granted and taxpayers are to gq to gaol, if necessary.
CURTAILING PROCESSIONS.
Melbourne, May 6. The City Council has adopted a bylaw prohibiting street processions, excepting those of official character.
FLAG BURNING INCIDENT.
Sydney, May 6. The storm of indignation against the Domain flag burning continues. The newspapers publish columns of protest. Big loyalist demonstrations have been arranged for to-night and Sunday. The Labor Council resolved that the burning of the flag was a provocative act, intended to discredit the May Day proceedings and engineered by a few fanatics with the object of driving the wedge of dissension in the ranks of the working classes. —Aus.-N.Z.
