GOLF.
OPENING OF INGLEWOOD CLUB. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The gathering at the links of the Inglewood Golf Club on Thursday for the opining of the season, was a complete success. The weatl?er was all that could be desired, the muster of club members also being exceptionally satisfactory, no less than 36 being present. The first of a series of matches for a ladles’ and gentlemen's trophy. Presented by Mr. G. Gudgeon was played a foursome, but as your correspondent is not conicrsant with the teci?nicalities of the golf language, he imust be excused any shortcomings in that direction. Anyhow, the result of Thursday’s play was that Mrs. Surrey and Mr. C. O’Carroll were the winners with scores of 104, handicap 18, net 86. Reinforcement. (No! that is too military a term). Refreshment sounds better, though it was more than that; sort of between the two, in tte shape of afternoon tea, was provided, thanks to Mrs. Sutherland and her lady . co-adjutors, tho which was greatly appreciated by the assembled members of the club
