EXCEPT ON REPARATIONS.
By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Washington, May 5. The State Department has been advised that an invitation for the United States to be represented on the Allied Supreme Council is being transmitted. Received May *6, 8.20 p.m. Washington, May 5. Sir Auckland Geddes (British Ambassador) has delivered the Allies’ invitation to the United States to be represented on the Supreme Council, the Council of Ambassadors, and the Reparations Commission. —Times Service. Received May 6, 10.40 p.m New York, May 5.
The "times’ Washington correspondent says it is expected the United States will not accept the Allies’ invitation to send representatives to the Council .of Ambassadors or the Supreme Council. Twp members, however, will probably be sent to the Reparations Commission. The reasons actuating the Administration are, firstly, the probable attacks by irreconcilable Senators should the Uniteci States participate fully; and secondly, the disinclination of the Administration to participate fully until the Allies recognise the United States’ position in Yap.—Aus.-N.Z.
