Dixon, M.P., sent the follow- 1 ing telegram to the Minister of Internal Affairs on Thursday: “Some dairy factories greatly inconvenienced through delay settling insurances through fire Patea works two months ago. Kindly assist hasten settlement.” The following is the Hon. W. Downie Stewart’s reply: “Received your telegram re delay in settling insurance claim on butter damaged by fire at Patea and am making representations to Hon. Minister of Agriculture on subject.” As usual the winter has set in early iu Rotorua, and some very heavy frosts have been experienced. Although the * nights are intensely cold the last few days have been delightfully warm and sunny. The tourist season is almost over, but there are still many visitors in the town, and a good number are indulging in fishing with satisfactory results.
