PASSENGERS BY AIR.
MACHINES BEING PROVIDED. CHRISTCHURCH TO BLENHEIM. Christchurch, May 3. The first DH9 aeroplane converted at the Sockburn aerodrome for passengercarrying was tested to-day by Captain Euan Dickson. The test proved satisfactory in every way. The DH9 machine is fitted with a 240-h.p. engine, and develops a speed of about 110 miles per hour. The machine tested to-day wil. be used on the Blenheim mail and passenger service. It is fitted with three comfortable passenger seats, and has a snug mail box. Pigeons will be carried on the mail service, and Captain Dickson hcpes to make extensive use of them between Christchurch and Blenheim. J A second DH9 machine is now being converted into an aerial limousine, and will also be used on the Blenheim service It will have six wide windows, and the passengers will be able, to look out or either tide from chaijr«*
