TARANAKI MEN’S HOCKEY ASSOCIATION. A special meeting of the executive of the Taranaki Men’s Hockey Association was held in Hawera on Monday. Mr. T. Taylor (vicepresident), occupied the chair. The most important business considered was the position of hockey in Taranaki, brought about by the recent polls on the halfholiday issue. After considerable discussion it was decided that Wednesday be fixed as the day to play all matches, and that at the same time the fixture committee be given power to use discretion in cases of hardship. Mr. J. McLachlan, on behalf of the subcommittee set up to form a Referees’ Association, reported that their efforts proved futile, as only two referees attended the meeting. Nevertheless, they had resolved to again move in the matter, and he thought that they would be successful. The secretary read correspondence from the New Zealand Association and from Mr. Strack, stating that as Mr. Strack was representing Wellington on the New Zealand Council he was prevented from acting for Taranaki.—lt was decided to write to the president of the New Zealand Association asking him to secure a suitable delegate for Taranaki. A hearty vote of thanks to the chair and to the Farmers’ Co.-op. for the use of their room terminated the meeting.
