FALLING-OFF THIS YEAR.

NEW PLYMOUTH FIGURES.

Compared with the corresponding month of last year there was an in crease of 14 in the number of births ii New Plymouth during April, the figure being 43 and 57 respectively. The num ber of deaths was fewer by six than »i last April, and marriages showed a decrease Of four. The following are the details as supplied by the registrar (Mr. J. S, S. Medley):— 1921 1920 Births 57 43 Deaths ... 14 20 Marriages 13 17 The total of births since the beginning of the year is 14S, while the deaths fpi the same period were 44 and the marriages 56. There is a falling-off in the number of births compared with 1920, while there have also been fewer man riages.
