MARANATHA. MARANATHA.

SIGNS OF CHRIST’S COMING.

JN St. Mark’s Gospel, chapter 13, our Lord gave among other signs that should herald the Second Coming, this remarkable prophecy. “And the Gospel must first be published all nations.” We have just received the latest report of the British and Foreign Bible Society, which can be obtained at the Bible House, Ballance Street, Wellington, price one' shilling. The title is very significant, “The Field is the World.” The aim of this great Society .is “fo reach the homes of the world with God’s Book.” It goes on to say that the Society to-day is faced with demands for the Scriptures beyond all precedent. All Europe is crying out for fresh supplies. The Gospel truly is being published in all the world. We are of opinion that the purpose of which above all others God has raised up Great Britain and given her her place and authority in the earth, is the blessed mission of sending forth the Gospel to all nations. Her place in prophecy is, we think, found in the passage in Isaih ] 8,• which, correctly translated, should read: “Ho! Land of the perpetual shadow of sails, which art beyond the rivers of Cush! Accustomed to send (sacredotal) messages by sea, even with papyrine implements (Bibles) upon the surface of the waters. Go, swift messengers.”
