DEATH OF A SETTLER

By Telegraph.—Press Asscdadon. i Rotorua, Last Night. The Court proceedings and the inquest following the Ongaroto tragedy concluded this afternoon, when the jury returned a verdict that Patrick Richard Elliott died from a gunshot wound on the back of the neck, on or about March 27, and was wilfully ■ murdered, strong suspicion resting on Hakaraia Te Kahn as the murderer.

Hakaraia was charged with the murder, and he reserved his defence. He was committed for trial at Hamilton on June 14. The magistrate highly complimented those searching for Elliott on the way they worked under jonsiderable diffieuL ti«i and hardships
