THE RARAWA.
The Rarawa arrived from Wellington yesterday morning after being on the slip for painting and cleaning. She- sailed for Onehunga at 8.20 p.m.
TWO CUNARDERS TO-DAY.
With regard to tire movements of the Port Plrie and the Port Hacking, Messrs. Collett and Co. (agents for the Cunard Line) advise that the former will leave at 8 a.m. this morning for Port Chalmers for dry-dock-ing. The Port Hacking is expected to be off the port at the same time, and will immediately take the berth vacated and commence loading frozen produce.
FLORA FROM SOUTH.
The Flora, from Lyttelton and Wellington, is expected to arrive here to-day with about 1200 tons of general cargo to discharge.
TAINUI FOR SOUTHAMPTON.
Messrs. Newton King, Ltd., advise that the sailing of the Tainui from Wellington for Southampton has been postponed to daybreak on Thursday, May 12.
MANUKA LEFT SYDNEY.
The Union Company have received cable advice that the Manuka left Sydney gt 10 o’clock bn Thursday morning direct for Wellington. She is bringing 226 passengers, and is due early on Monday afternoon. The vessel is timed to sail from Wellington on the return trip to Sydney and Hobart next Thursday.
lONIC ARRIVES MONDAY.
A wireless message received at 'Wellington on Thursday by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company from the liner lonic, en route from Southampton via ports and Panama, stated that the vessel will arrive in the stream at Wellington at 8 a.m. on Monday. The lonic will berth to land passengers, discharge part cargo and mails, and will proceed from there about next Thursday to Auckland to put out the remainder of her cargo.
DORSET AT . NEWPORT NEWS.
The New Zealand Shipping Company have been notified by cable that the Dorset arrived at Newport News on April 25 from Wellington bound for London.
HORORATA AT NEWPORT NEWS.
Cable advice has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that the Hororata arrived at Newport News on April 25, en route from Wellington’ to London.
TASMANIA’S LOADING PORTS.
The New Zealand Shipping Company advise that the steamer Tasmania, which is to leave Wellington to-morrow morning for Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete discharge of her Liverpool cargo, will load for London at Lyttelton, Dunedin, Tokomaru Bay, and Auckland.
ARAWA TO LEAVE HOME.
The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advise that the liner Arawa is to leave Southampton next Thursday for New Zealand ports via Panama.
KAPUNI EXPLOSION.
A telegraih from Wellington says that tlie inquiry concerning the explosion on the steamer Kapuni at Patea on January 25 concluded yesterday. The court found that the explosion was due to the negligent act of the firemen in obtaining benzine instead of kerosene for the purpose of cleaning the condensers, and that the engineer committed an error of judemfint, in not stopping the engines as soon as he became aware tliat benzine had been poured into the condensers. The court did not think the explosion occurred through any structural defect in the bulkhead.
THE HUIA DAMAGED.
A telegram from Wellington says: When the small steamer Hula was leaving Castlecliff on Wednesday for Wellington, her stern hit the corner of the stone-carrying barge which was berthed at the wharf and damaged One of the steamer’s plates. As a bole two feet square had been torn in the Huia's stern it was considered advisable to put back to her berth. A new plate will be put in the vessel. The cargo of cheese and hides was not damaged.
