FIVE MILLIONS LESS THAN PREVIOUS YEAR.

SIGNS OF RECOVERY.

Whiles,, .measured by value, the total exports,of the‘Dominion for the twelve months ending- February 28th, 1921, show a drop of considerably over £5,-000,000-as compared with those for the year; the figures for January and February, 1921, show h. marked recovery. For ihe years ending February 28th, 1921, and February 29th, 1920, respectively, the exports totalled £47 5 122,203 and £52,820,817. For February, 1921 and 1920, respectively, the figures'were £3,235,617 and .£2,-694,875; while for the first two months of each year they were £8,521,241 and £6,991,332 respectively. 7

OUR WOOL EXPORTS.

For the year ending February ( 29th, 1921, the wool exports of the Dominion show a big drop as compared with the exports for the year ending- February 29th, 1920. '.

For the more recent period, the figures are as follows, those for the previous twelve months being given in parentheses)!: —156,256,987 pounds (256,528,135), valued at £10,950,891 (£-19,182,590).

For the two-month periods ending on the same dates the exports totalled 27,440,352 pounds (27,610,558), valued at £1,157,739 ( £2,070,675); while for February in each year the totals were 11,155,622 pounds and 8,535,522, valued at £514,573 and £7,085,519 respectively’

BUTTER EXPORTS.

BIG INCREASE IN VALUES.

For the first two months of the present year the butter exports from the Dominion show a big increase in quantity over those for the first two months of 1920; while for the twelve months ending February 28th, 1921, and February 29th, 1920, respectively, a slight increase in.quantity and a very considerable increase in value are shown. In February last the butter exports totalled 69,376 cwt, valued at £943,701; while for February, 1920, the figures were 44,354 cwt and £396,073.

For the two months ending February 28th last, the exports of butter amounted to 219,'dllcwt, valued at £3,025,105; as against 144,361 cwt, valued at £1,285,6716 for the two months ending February 29th, 1920.

For the twelve months ending February 28th, 1921, the export of butter was 387,259 tons, valued at £4,761,764;. as against 383,553 tons, valued at £3,450,369, for the previous twelve months.

CHEESE EXPORTS.

NEARLY 6J MILLIONS.

The position in regard to our cheese exports is as follows, the comparative figures for 1920 and 19'19-20 being given in parentheses:—

February, 1921—105,729 cwt (68,841), valued at £621,448 ( £329,824). Two months ended February 28th, 1921— 254, 399 cwt (237,845), valued at £1,518,503 (£l, 197,401).

Twelve months ended February 28th, 1921—1,238,004 cwt (1,506,598), valued at £6,481.939 (£7,545,494).
