FURTHER RESULTS ANNOUNCED.

WELLINGTON VOTING.

Wellington, Last Night. All the retiring members of the Hospital Board who sought re-election were successful. The Rev. H Van Siaveren, with a record poll of 13,697 votes, headed the list. The new members of the board are Messrs, Vine, Hornblow, Underwood and Butler. Labor secured three seats and lost three. Details: H. Van Staveren 13,697, C. M. Luke 12,214, F. Castle 12,159, J. TIMARU.

Bl J. Rolleston was elected Mayor with 2949 vo.js, W. Angland (a former Mayor) securing 1067. The Citizens’ Association secured the return of eight of their nominees. Of three Labor candidates only one was returned, and as he secured a place by only one vote the seat is uncertain till the result of the recount is known. Rating on unimproved values was carried; also Saturday halfholiday.

DANNEVIRKE.

The Borough Council elections resulted in the election of: P. G./Bott, C. McGibbon, A. J. C. Runciman, D. Drummond, W. Snell, W. Dobson, L. Stein, J. H. Fairhurst, M. W. Hartgill. Three unofficial Labor candidates came 12th. 15th and 17th on the list in a field of 17. The Mayor (Mr. G. Innes Anderson) was re-elected unopposed. Pastor Ries was elected to the Waipawa Hospital Board, beating W. Snell, the sitting member, by 705 votes to 380.

MARTON.

Wm. C. Kensington, LS.O., was reelected Mayor unopposed. The Saturday half-holiday was carried by 404 votes against 296.

FEILDING,

J. S. Tingey was elected by 589 votes, defeating the retiring Mayor (G. J. Harford), who polled 562.

FOXTON.

T}ie election of nine councillors for the Borough Council resulted in the return of F. D. Whibley, Alex. Ross, M. H. Walker, R. J. Thompson, Geo. Coley, C. Rand, A. N. Smith, R. Bryapt, E. G. Martin. There were twelve nominations. John Cry stall, the sitting Maypr, was returned unbpposed. Less than 50 per cent, of those on the roll recorded their votes. The new council includes five Fitting councillors.

LEVIN.

Mayoralty: D. W. Matheson was returned unopposed. Council: P. W. Goldsmith, C. S. Keedwell, F. E. Parker, T. Hobson, C. H. Martin, J. Harvey, M. Mortensen, R. McAlister, W. Thomson. There were 14 nominations; the seven sitting councillors were returned.

AUCKLAND CITY.

Mr. Gunson was re-elected Mayor unopposed. For 21 seats on the City Council there were 50 candidates. Seventeen retiring members, including two of the three Labor candidates, were re-elected. With the exception of two successful Labor candidates, those elected were either on the Progressive Citizens or P.P.A. tickets, or both, Mr. Hutchison, who headed the poll, was also on the returned soldiers’ ticket. Mavoral elections. —Mount Eden: Shakelford, 1631; McNab, 1547. Newmarket: Donaldson, 520; Leek, 381. Pukekohe: Routley, 317; Laurie, 242; Mason, 231. Northcote: Richardson, 322; Duxberry, 2GO. Birkenhead: Court, 556; Skeats, 366.

HASTINGS.

Mayoralty: W. Hart unopposed.-Coun-cil: W. J. White, A. W. Hamilton, Madison,. D. E. Davis, Cecil Duff Fowler, T. Clarkson, F. W. Cook, A. Garnett. Harbor Board: J. A. Miller. Wednesday halfholiday was retained by a three-to-one majority over Saturday.

CARTERTON.

The poll taken on Wednesday on the hydro-electric loan proposal for £260,000 was carried easily throughout the Wairarapa by 1715 votes to 218. The halfholiday question was also settled by polls at Carterton, Masterton and Featherston. Saturday was carried everywhere. W. H. Booth was elected Mayor unopposed. The council chosen was: A. Anderson, P. A. Cole, W. C. Deller, E. Eagle, W. Fisher, J. C. Harp, T. H. Hughes, J. Preddy, H. M. B. Trapp. There are three new members on the council.

INVERCARGILL

The Saturday half-holiday was carried by 3043 votes to 1321. Two Labor candidates, Messrs. Farrant and Glass, were returned for the council.

ASHBURTON.

The change to the Saturday halfholiday was carried by 912 votes to 453. Mr. R. Galbraith was re-elected Mayor unopposed.

TAUMARUNUI

The Mayoralty election resulted: Steadman, 358; Lavid, 200; Manson 174.

NELSON.

The Mayoralty voting was: Lock. 1666; Pettit, 1205.

WAIHT.

The sitting Mayor (D. Donaldson) was returned unopposed. The referendum on freedom of street speaking as against its limitation to one of the street as laid down by the borough by-law, was taken, as the result of a deputation to the council from the Miner** Union

protesting against street speaking being confined to one street only. The proposal was defeated.

OPOTIKI.

A heavy municipal poll was recorded on Wednesday. Mr. T. G. Johnston was re-elected' Mayor by a majority or 62. The half-holiday question resulted in a majority of 38 for Saturday closing. Keen interest was manifested in the latter poll.
