MOTOR CYCLING.
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB.
THE ANNUAL MEETING.
The annual meeting of tte New Plymouth Motor Cycle Club was held last night, Mr. G. Allen (chairman of the committee) presiding over an attendance of about sixteen members.
The report congratulated the club on the splendid financial position attained in the two years, having a credit balance of £206. This was entirely due to the splendid (manner in which club members had pulled together. The second annual meeting, on March K, had proved a splendid success, mainly due to the work of the then president (Mr. Johnson), who did a great deal of the detail work, selling no less than £37 worth of tickets. Owing to broken weather and other conditions the club fixtures had been very few. The thanks of the club were due to the Jockey Club for the free use of the course and appointments, to the Press, to Mr. R. Whale for the use of workshop for bolding meetings, to Messrs. J. Blewman, Goodacre, Stainton and Co., Whittle, Smith, Wooldridge and Johnson, Bennett (time-keeper), Webster (starter), Weston (judge), and all others who had assisted. The receipts for the year had amounted to £582 Ils 7d, and expenses £516 15s 2d, leaving a balance of £65 15s sd, making a cash balance now of £206. The membership was now thirty financial members, and it was hoped that every member would make a special effort to increase this.
Tbe report and balance-sheet were adopted.
Officers were elected as follows: —Patrons, Messrs. W. C. Weston, E. Whittle, A. Smith, S. G. Smith, M.P., and R. Wooldridge; president, Mr. J. W. Johnson; vice-presidents Messrs. L. B. Webster, E. Douch, L. A Nolan, E. Elliott, and L. Johnson. It was considered that the position of the club now warranted the appointment of a salaried secretary, and it was resolved to appoint Mr. C. H. Wynyard, who had already been approached by the committee, secretary and treasurer. Club captain, L. McHardie; vlcecaptain J. Simons; delegate to the N.Z.A.C.U., W. Johnson; committee, Messrs. L. McHardie, fl. Townsleyt H. Jacka, P. E. Stainton, E. A. Anderson, W. J. Simons, C. Allen and R. Whale; auditor, E. A. Campbell; bon. surgeons, Drs. Leatham and Brewster.
It was resolved to vote tbe secretary a bonus of £lO, tbe assistant secretary £5, and the auditor £1 Is.
Suggestions were made that a social should be held during the winter months, and also that papers of instruction on matters connected with motor cycle cafe and management should lie read. Mr. Townsley also considered that the club should keep in mind the establishment of a club room. The finances were not quite strong enough to warrant this at present, as he considered tbey should always have £2OO behind them in case of striking a wet day for their meeting.
