THE WOOL MARKET. By Telegraph.—Press AsSn.—Copyright. London, April 26. Wool sales opening on May 3 comprise 40,000 bales of Bawra. wool and 34,000 free Australian. Newspapes publish the decision of the Sydney Farmers’ and Graziers’ Association that the average price of wool should not be less than a shilling per pound. The wool trades consider this unattainable in the present position of the trade, and the limited purchasing power of the Continent. They consider growers ought to be well satisfied if they receive the pre-war average of lOd. BAWRA MINIMUM FIXED. Melbourne, April 27. Tbe Bawra directorate and Selling Brokers’ Association have agreed on the (minimum reserve at which the various types of wool shall be sold. The decision has not been disclosed. BANKS AMALGAMATE. Hobart, April 23. The English, Scottish and Australian Bank has taken over the whole of the assets and liabilities of the Commercial Bank of Tasmania for £616,000.
