WELLINGTON CITY.
COUNCIL’S FINANCIAL YEAR. By Telegraph. Pre-,* Association 1 Wellington, Last Night. A statement made by the Mayor (Mr. Luke) to-night shows that the total revenue of the City Council for the year under all heads was £1,078,428, compared with £893,683 last year, while the expenditure was £1'106,496, against £905,868 last year. The Mayor says that considering the difficult period passed through, the excess of expenditure over income is not at all large. Details of this year’s figures are (last year’s figures in parentheses): General, £353,696 (£299,650); special, £26,825 ( £66,755); tramways. £347,695 ( £277,087); power supply, £32,884 (£26,669); electric lighting, £112,318 (£103,993); milk supply £205,000 ( £119,529). It had beep impossible to obtain money by loan, and the council had to work on ordinary finance.
