THE ISSUES TO BE DECIDED. HALF-HOLIDAY QUESTION. Municipal elections will held throughout Taranaki to-day, and a feature this year is that in each of the boroughs electors will be called upon to give a decision on the hajf-holiday question. In New Plymouth the voters have a number of issues calling for consideration, including election of councillors, and representatives to the Harbor Board and to the Hospital Board, COUNCIL NOMINATIONS. For the eight seats on the Borougi Council there are 11 candidates, eighl of whom were nominated by the asso’ ciations of ratepayers, and three by the Labor Representation Committdfe. The candidate’s are as follow (an asterisk denotes nominee of • ratepayers’ association, and the letter “a” denotes a sitting councillor) T. N. Blackhall* J. Brown* E. Dingle* W. H. Fitzpatrick H. V. S. Griffiths (s)* G. T. Langley R. A. Large* J. Kibby (s)* R. L. Parkin (s)* W. Rumball* G. T. Scott HOSPITAL BOARD. For the Hospital Board three of th< following are required (“s” denotes sit ting member): — J. Brown IL R. Cattley e M. Fraser (s) E. R. C. Gilmour (s) J. S. S. Medley (s) HARBOR BOARD. For the Harbor Board two of the fol lowing three nominees are required (“s' denotes sitting member): C. E. Bellringer (s) J. S. Connett (s) ’ J. O. Taylor. The question of increasing the rate oi interest for loans, raised for hydroelectric works, is an important Ratepayers only are eligible to vote on the subject, and those who can vote should note that the loan paper will be a white dn>. On the other issues all qualified electors may vote. People are requested to vote early and those voting in the town are advised to use the Whiteley booth in Liardet Street, where preparations have been made for prompt despatch. A booth has been established at the Soldiers’ Club, but is intended for people in the business area, and will not be able to handle a large crowd. Hours of voting are from fl a.m. to 7 p.m.
