A WOMAN’S DEATH.
CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER. IN THE COURT. By Telegraph. -Pre’w Association Hastings, April 25. In the case of a woman -found dead on a section about midnight on Friday, when a letter addressed “Mhrion D. Baird, 55 Trafalgar Street, Nelson,” was found on -the body, developments have occurred resulting in the arrest o! George Dunne, stable hand, aged 32, on a charge of manslaughter. Hastings, Last Night. An inquest on Marion Douglas Baird, aged 71, who was found dead on a section in town at midnight on Friday last, was held by Mr. R. W. Dyer, S.M., this afternoon. George Dunn, who is under arrest, was in court, and was identified by two witnesses as the man seen leaving the section immediately before the body was found. The Coroner’s verdict was that death was due to great excitement acting on a diseased heart and Milated. stomach; and that the great excitement was caused Iby the fact that she had been raped by George Dunn. Subsequently Dunn was charged with manslaughter, and remanded for a waek, bail being refused.
