Beef was also selling below the cost of production and, but for the fact that whewt had sold for high prices they would have had to face a crisis before this. The existing position was Such that no amount of statesmanship or legislation could do anything to save it. The one essential at such a time was a stable Government and looking the difficulties fairly in the face. Whatever could be done to prevent the collapse of the wool market the Government would do.
