GENERAL COMMITTEE. A meeting of the general committee of the Taranaki Metropolitan Agricultural Society was held on Saturday, Mr. W. B. Grant (president) occupying the chair. The New x Plymouth Jersey Breeders* Club wrote stating that it was their intention to hold a sale of Jersey bulls in October and females in June, and asking for the use of the show grounds on which to hold same.—Application was granted subject to certain considerations being complied with. An application from the Plunket Society for space at the winter show for a rest room was referred to the space committee with a recommendation that the request be granted. The New Zealand Council of Agrieul- • ture wrote advising that the annual conference would be held at Wellington in July next, and asking that remits be sent in as early as possible.—lt was decided to frame remits at the next meeting. to be held on May 7.

The American Consul-General wrote asking for information relative'to what practical informatioi| and instruction is given to farmers by the association along the lines of extension work in agriculture and home economics.' —The secretary was instructed to supply the necessary information. A communication was received from the British Empire Producers’ Organisation stating that it is proposed to convene a conference of representatives of A. and P. associations throughout the Empire in London in the coming summer, and asking if the society would be likely to have anyone in London in June to represent the society.—The letter was received. Matters in connection with the forthcoming winter show, to be held on June 8,9, 10 and 11 next, were discussed. The (hairman was empowered to select his own space committee. A siib-committee consisting of Messrs. Grant, Sampson and Brown was appointed to select suitable judges for the show. It was decided -o ask Messrs. H. King, F. Andrews and H. C. Sampson to judge the field acreage competitions. The procuring of suitable members’ badges was left to the chairman and secretary.
