EXPLOSION ON KAPUNI.

THE INQUIRY CONTINUED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, April 22. The Kapuni explosion at Patea on January 2 was further inquired into to”day when the engineer, Norman Walker, gave evidence. He instructed the fireman to procure kerosene for the tank and for cleaning the condenser. It was not until after some had been used that he discovered the liquid to be benzine, whereupon he ordered the remainder to be taimen away, thinking tHe fumes would be drawn through the skylight of the vessel’s engine-room. He did not anticipate danger. He had not previously observed benzine fumes in the en-gine-room. After hearing technical evidence by the explosive inspector the inquiry was adjourned.
