TRADE RETURNS.
BIG INCREASE IN IMPORTS. TARANAKI FIGURES. The exports from New Zealand during the quarter ended March 31 last( were valued at £13,196,5)4, as against £11,418,7'88 for the corresponding quarter of last year. The exports from the principal ports were as follow: Auckland £4,306,899; Gisborne, £581,793: New Plymouth, £988,603; Patea, £580,. 978; Wanganui, £1,221,038; Wellington, £1,308,357; Napier, £799,013; Greymouth, £7'7,954; Lyttelton, £1,120,829; Timaru, £359,203; Dunedin, £649,065; Invercargill, £614,981. The imports for the March quarter were valued at £15,858,502, as agairtet £9,791,061 for the corresponding quarter of last year. The increase was accounted for chiefly by the increase of the imports from the United Kingdom from £3,340,522 in the first quarter of 1920 to £8,702,509 in the first quarter of 1921.
