DISPOSAL OF WHEAT.

PERMITS NOT NECESSARY. REGULATIONS EXPLAINED. Farmers are under some misapprehension as to the course to pursue in the disposal of their wheat, the general impression being that they must have a permit before they can sell their crop. This matter was the subpect of some remarks by the secretary of the Auckland Prices Investigation Tribunal, Mr. E. Carter. He stated that no permit was necessary, but that farmers could only sell their wheat to a recognised Government broker. The latter, he said, could only resell wheat with the permission of the Wheat Controller. _ Mr. Carter stated that the price of fowl wheat on the trucks at the nearest railway station was 7s 8d per bushel, i but if millers accepted such wheat as being suitable for milling purposes the following prices should be paid: Tuscan, 7s lOd; Hunter’s, 8s Id; Pearl, 8s 4d. In each instance the price of sacks was extra.
