jy-ARANATHA. JJARANATHA. SIGNS OF CHRIST’S COMING. THE CHURCH SIGN. QNE of the highest privileges followers of the Lord Jesus Christ have at this time is to contend for the faith. May God help us to be faithful to Him and to His Word. So imminent, too, is our Lord’s coming that we can “almost hear His footfall on the threshold of the door.” When Church dignitaries such as Canon Barnes and others express rationalistic views quite openly, scoff at the first chapter of Genesis, and say, “Where is the promise of His coming?” We know this is only what has been foretold in the prophetic Scriptures. St. Paul pleaded in his day, “O, Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so-called.” We suppose *lhat one of the greatest men of science living is Alfred R. Wallace, who, in his great book, “Man’s Place in the Universe,” says: “Most people give scientific men credit for much greater knowledge than they possess in these matters.” This admission by Mr. Wallace only adds weight, and should give greater confidence to thinking people in support of any scientific opinions he may express. His conclusions regarding our planet as the only habitable one in the solar system, to quote his own words, are: “This completes my work as a connected argument, founded wholly upon the facts and principles accumulated by modern science; and it leads, if my facts are substantially correct and my reasoning sound, to one great and definite conclusion that man. the culmination of conscious organic life, has developed HERE ONLY in the whole vast material universe we see all around us.” Some little men tell us that it is ridiculous to beGhristian dogma that the Son of God deigned to come to our insignificant globe to die for our race. These wise men would sooner believe in the evolutionary, monkey theory than the great statement of the Living Word, “God created man in His own image.”
