DISTRICT NEWS.

KAIMATA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) We are having very boisterous weather in this remote corner of the universe. The milk at the local factory is diminishing fast, despite the fact that efforts, per soft turnips, have been made to keep up the milk yield. A dance was held in the hall recently in aid of 4 u uds for the Sports and Pastimes Club. It was very well attended. Bachelor partners were plentiful, but of the fair sex there were few representatives. Could not some more of the local ladies attend these functions, and not leave the worthy bachelors (ex-soldiers) in solitude? Those who attended enjoyed themselves immensely. The music was supplied by Mr. A. J. Taylor (piano), Mr. 8. Carter (violin), whilst the M.C.’s carried out their duties to the satisfaction of all.

The new Anglican Church (St. John’s) is finished. A service was held on Easter Day, but the official opening will be performed on Anzac Day by the Ven. Archdeacon Evans. You are cordially invited, Mr. Editor, to attend on Anzac Day, at 2.30 p.m. Undoubtedly this structure is one of the prettiest little churches in the province. A good attendance is assured. The offertory will be devoted to the new church building fund in Inglewood. We had a visit from the Jubilee Bellringers last Saturday evening, and a very nice little entertainment it was. The most important item on the programme was a Punch and Judy Show for the children; and the kiddies enjoyed it immensely. ,

A start has been made with the new supper room at the back of tiij Public Hall. Two men are engaged, ind they are making rapid progress. official opening of this room will take place in the near future, when we hope to see a very big muster of the public from everywhere. Great praise is due to the management for raising funds for the building of the room, which is badly needed.

The Sports and Pastimes Club have decided to hold sports at a future date, to be advertised. All those who love clean sport please get ready.
