Received, April 15, 12.5 a.m. London, April 14. While playing in the covered court doubles at Queen’s Club Doust fell heavily and broke a tendon of his left leg.
THE DAVIS CUP. PROBLEM BEFORE JAPAN. Received April 15, 12.35 a.m. London, April 14. It is understood Sliimidzu has cabled from Calcutta that he is unable to represent Japan in the Davis Cup ties this year. Further efforts are being made through the national tennis club of Japan to obtain his release from business with a view to his participating in Japan’s debut in international tennis. Tilden expresses the opinion that Japan will be the challenger if Shimidzu plays. —Router Service. INTER-UNIVERSITY MATCH. New York, April 13. It has been tentatively agreed that a combined Oxford and Cambridge tennis team shall play a- combined Harvard and Yale team, six men a side, on July 4 and 5, at ’Boston. The match was originally planned by the Queen’s Club, London.
