SIGNING THE PEACE TREATY.
MEMENTOES FOR NEW ZEALAND. The memory of the historic signing of the Peace Treaty is being preserved for New Zealanders by the mounting in a casket of the fountain pen and the seal used by the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey) on that occasion. This casket is the work of the craftsrtan who made the fine box of New Zealand woods presented to the Prince of Wales. The base is of step formation and from this rises a column which supports a square dome of leaded glass.. Inside the glass compartment are the pen and the seal, the latter being composed of a plain wooden handle with a leaden base on which appear the initials “N.Z.” The whole affair stands about five feet high. It is understood that it will be exhibited in a shop window, and that subsequently it will be placed somewhere in the Parliamentary Library Buildings as being the most fire-proof accommodation available.
