FARMERS’ UNION.
HAWKE’S BAY BRANCH. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Dannevirke, April 11. The quarterly meeting of the Southern Hawke’s Bay Farmers Union discussed the Auckland proposal for the formation of a Farmers’ Political Party and passed unanimously a resolution that the meeting considers the time inopportune for the formation of a Farmers’ Political Party. The relations of the Sheep-owners’ Association and the Farmers’ {Union were discussed, it being urged that the union take steps to support the sheepowners in their endeavor to get shearers’ charges reduced. The opinion was expressed that it was unfortunate there should be two bodies in existence. The Farmers’ Union could not enter into the matter of awards, being an unregistered body, and amalgamation was suggested as the proper thing; then they could register as one body. Notice was given for the annual meeting that the executive be instructed to take steps to become a registered body.
