KAURI GUM COAIMISSION. By Teleeraph— Press AsaociatUn. Auckland, Last Night., The Kauri Gum Commission concluafl ed its northern itinerary at Whangareiw on Friday and returned to Auckland on Saturday evening. The findings of the commission are to be returned by the end of April, and the concluding evidence will be taken at Auckland some time next week. In the meantime the commission has disbanded. MEETING 05 CABINET. . Wellington, Last Night. Cabinet held a long sitting to-day, when there was a full attendance of Ministers. At the conclusion the Prime Alinister announced that the business done was very largely of a routine character. ROBBERY AT ROTORUA Rotorua, Last Night.; Another boardinghouse robbery is reported. Twenty- r even pounds were taken on Sunday night, and the money been put in what was considered a secure hiding place. There is no clue of the thief. WELLINGTON AIAYORALTY. Wellington, Last Night. . Councillor Len McKenzie has decided to retire from the Mayoral contest and at a meeting at Karori to-night he fully explained his decision. His retirement leaves Councillor R. A. Wright, ALP., and the Hon. T. W. Hislop in the field to oppose the “Official Labor” nominee, Mr. P. Hickey. An independent committee heard the claims of Cr. AfcKenzie and the Hon. T. W Hislop, both candidates agreeing to abide by the decision of the committee. It was decided to ask Cr. McKenzie to retire, testifying to the public spirit shown by noth in submitting the question to an .ndependent tribunal.
