l J rofessor Easterfield, director of the Cawthron Institute of Scientific research at Nelson, announces that in connection with the woolly a ( phis Dr. Tillyard has obtained a number of insects from America, which fed on the aphis and it has been noted that a number have hatched out on trees at the institute on which the experiment has been made and the trees are being rapidly cleared of aphis. Professor Easterfield says if 'the insects became properly established they would greatly reduce the aphis trouble throughout New Zealand; there was no chance of the insects attacking the trees after they had taken all the aphis.
