BOROUGH ELECTIONS.
PROSPECTIVE CANDIDATES. ■Three labor nominees. Nominations in connection with the municipal, elections to be held ou the 27th inst. will close in ten days’ time, and as the poll draws nearer the question of selecting candidates becomes more prominent. Indications are that the Mayor (Mr. F. E. Wilson) will be returned unopposed. For the vacancies on the council, numbering eight, the “ticket” adopted by the Ratepayers Association has so far monopolised the field, though the names of one or two “independents” have been mentioned. It is also likely that the Labor Representation Committee *will put forward at least three candidates. It is understood the L.R.C. is not likely to nominate representatives to contest seats either on the Harbor Board or the Hospital Board. For the former Messrs. C. E. Bellringer and J. S. Connett, the present borough representatives. will he seeking re-election and no other candidates have been mentioned up to the present. For the vacancies on the Hospital Board it is understood the sitting members (Messrs. M. Fraser. E. R. Gilmour and J. S. S. Medley) will again consent to nomination, arid other candidates will be Messrs. H. R. Cattley and Joseph Brown.
