THE LEAGUE.
AMERICA’S ISOLATION. REJECTION OF COVENANT. AN IMPORTANT FORECAST. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received April 8, 9.35 p.m. Paris, April 7. The Matin’s special correspondent at Washington states that next Tuesday President Harding will deal the last blow at the League of Nations in his first message tc Congress. He will declare that America will never accept the covenant, but is determined td reject it permanently. This means the League’s definite internment, and three-quarters of America will become en fete when the coffin is nailed down. Not twenty per cent, of the Senators belonging to the Foreign Affairs Committee will ratify the treaty even with reservations. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
[The editor of the Matin is at present in Washington, and he has recently sent to his paper some important forecasts which have been supported in official statements subsequently.]
