THE ESMONDE CASE.

The precipitancy of the Mayor in arresting Esmonde on a charge of using language is giving Esmonde newspaper space throughout the continent. The Mayor, fearing an outbreak of religious strife, and having failed to induce Ottawa to take the case off his hande, has suggested that he will not prosecute if Esmonde will immediately journey to an Atlantic port. Refusing the compromise, Esmonde was bailed out, pnd has engaged Catholic lawyers to fight the charge. —Aus. and N.Z. Cable A*§n.
