Ultimately, the Manawatu Gorge road will be a broad highway, 21 feet in width, with an iron curb running alojig the outside edge. Work on improving the thoroughfare was started recently. It is the intention of the authorities to spend £2OOO immediately on the worst and most dangerous spots. In all it is estimated that the Gorge road work will cost £43,050.
