Lewis, of New Zealarfeither-weight. The referee stopped the contest in the first round.—Aus.-N Z. Cable Assn. TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. TOURNAMENT NEXT MONTH. A meeting of the committee of the Taranaki Boxing Association was held last night, Mr. E. Jackson presiding in the absence of the chairman (Mr. E. Whittle). A vote of sympathy was passed with Mr. Whittle in his recent sad bereavement through the death of his sister. It was resolved to match G. Richardson and T. Thompson for a purse of 100 sovs., the bout to take place on Thursday, May 5. Four special amateur bouts will also be arranged. It was decided to hold the annual (meeting on Friday, May 6, in the Soldiers’ Club. The secretary was voted a bonus of £26 ss, apreciative reference being made to his work. It was reported that Mr. Richardson was conducting a boxing school in the interests nf the association by teaching the art of boxing to young lads and others free of charge, and the association resolved to donate two sets of gloves to the school and one et each to the Boys’ High School and Mr. T.. Thompson's school at Hurford Road.
