The Rarawa arrived from Onehunga yesterday morning with passengers and 137 tons of cargo, including 80 tons of sugar. She sailed again for Onehunga at 8.20 p.m. THE RIRA ARRIVES. The ketch Rira, from Auckland, with a consignment of 20 tons of explosives for the Harbor Board, arrived yesterday morning after a slow passage of 16 days, having encountered head winds and calms alternatively. After putting out the explosives the Rira was towed out into the stream to await a favorable breeze. RIMU SAILS. After putting out her cargo of cement from Whangarei the Rlmu sailed at 10.45 a.m. yesterday for Westport. NGAKUTA FOR NEW PLYMOUTH. Yesterday’s Wellington Times says it is proposed that the Blackball Company’s steamer Ngakuta will leave Wellington this evening with general cargo for New Plymouth. THE MALAITA. The Malaita is now due at New Plymouth on April 13th, not April Bth, as previously expected. The vessel is bringing a load of guano from Noumea. ULIMAROA FROM SYDNEY. The Huddart-Parker steamer Ulimaroa, after being laid up in Sydney for several weeks, made her re-appearance at Wellington on Monday. The Ulimaroli left Sydney at 2.30 p.m. on Thursday last, and experienced fine, warm weather with smooth seas, light winds, and clear skies until arrival. The Ulimaroa tons of cargo, including Mantua, Ormara, Bulla, Moncalien, Cathlaanba, Montoro, Waiwera, Swakopmund, Elmaren, Afrika, Carignano. NEXT BOAT FROM SYDNEY. The Union Company advise that the Manuka is to sail from Sydney to-morrow direct for Wellington, bringing passengers and cargo. The vessel is due at Wellington next Mon-: day afternoon. THE PIAKO. The Federal Line advise that the liner Piako is expected to leave Auckland on Saturday for Wellington in continuation of her voyage from Liverpool. The vessel is due at Wellington on Monday next. SUSSEX REPORTED. The New Zealand Shipping Company have received a radio message from the Sussex, en, route from St. John via Panama, stating that, the vessel will arrive at Auckland this afternoon. The Sussex should reach Wellington about the middle of next week. THE SHROPSHIRE. The Federal Line have been notified by wireless that the Shropshire, en route from Liverpool via Panama, will arrive at Wellington next Saturday afternoon to land a large number of passengers. The vessel has no cargo for New Zealand, and after disembarking her passengers will proceed on to Australia to unload. PASSENGERS BY WILTSHIRE. A considerable number of passengers for New Zealand have arrived in Sydney by the Wiltshire from Liverpool. Those booked for the north will leave Sydney for Auckland by the Maheno to-morrow. Those booked for Wellington and the South Island will leave Sydney by the Manuka for Wellington tomorrow. CANADA’S STATE SHIPPING VENTURE EXTENDS. The Canadian Government Mercantile Marine has an extensive shipping programme in hand, says the United Empire magazine. Tire existing Australian service is to be followed by the inauguration of a line of vessels from Vancouver to India and the Straits Settlements, and a further line to Far Eastern ports. It is also intended that a line shall be established to South America, and a service to the United Kingdom via the Panama Canal. It is stated; that early in the yesr a four-vessel fleet will be placed in the Oriental trade in conjunction with four ships of the Blue Funnel Line, while tie Indian Line is to be operated In conjunction with the British India Company. This continued expansion in the mercantile marine service from Pacific Caaat ports has revived the
