ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A BOY DROWNED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hawera, April 4. A drowning accident occurred at the Kapun> River yesterday. A boy named Edward Lovell, aged 15, was trying to catch a goat in a paddock adjoining the river when he fell into the river. Anboy who was with him* ran for help and a man named "Evans, who was quickly on the spot, dived and got the body on -Hie first attempt, after it had been fifteeh minutes in the water, but the boy failed to rally. The boy’s father, who is living in Auckland, lost another son in the same river eighteen months ago. WOMAN KILLED BY. ENGINE. Christchurch, April 4. A woman was run over and killed by a railway engine in the railway yards on Saturday. Her identity has not yet been established, but she is believed to be Mrs. Jessie Watson. A kit -found near the railway line contained a letter in which it was suggested that the woman intended to commit suicide.
