CORRESPONDENCE.
PRICE OF BUTTER. (To the Editor.) Sir.—To-day I visited a local store and asked for a pound of butter, for which I was charged 2/6. I pointed out to the grocer that an official announcement had appeared in the Daily News to the effect that a subsidy was to be continued, and t'liat the price to-day was to be 2/3 per pound for cash. He replied that he must charge 2/6, as he had received no official notice of the subsidy. Subsequently I learned that the same grocer was charging 2/3 per pound later in the morning, and on inquiry at Eltbam this afternoon, I found that that was the price charged there all day. Could you tell me on whose authority the grocers charged 2/7 per lb yesterday, and 2/'6 to-day. and whether they will receive the subsidy on butter sold, at these prices?—l am etc., FAMILY AIAN.
