Prices still remain on a very low ebb, and enquiry almost lifeless Dairy cattle have not shown to be in any marked demand as yet, but there appears to be every prospect of a fair season opening up ere long. At Kohuratahi on March 30.—Twotooth ewes 15s; f. and f.m. do 5s 9d, 5s 10d; 2-tooth wethers 9s Id; one shear Romney rams 1%, 2 and 2J gns; empty heifers £3. At Douglas on 31st ulto.—S.M. ewes 10s, weaner heifers- 10s, store cows £1 10s, bulls £1 to £2 2s
At Waiwakaiho sale on April I. Lambs 9s fid; forward ewes 14s 3d, 15s; weaner heifers 22s Od, 32s 6d; Jersey do £3, £3 15s; in-calf heifers £5; weaner steers 28s fid, 355; store cows £2 Is, £2 15s; bulls £2, £2 7s fid. £3 5s to £5 8s; dairy heifer £6 10s; dairy cows £8 10s; Jersey do £l5.
FARMERS’ CO-OP. REPORT. The Farmers’ Co-operative Organisation Society of New Zealand, Ltd., report for the week ending 2nd April: On Tuesday we held our usual fortnighrtly sale *at Stratford. All classes of cattle showed an improvement in price. We quote: —Fat cows £C to £6 15s, store cows £2 10s to £3, weaner Jerseys £3 15s, mixed do. 30s. At Inglewood on Wednesday we had a fair yarding of stock. Prices: —Lambs 9s to 9s fid, f.m. ewes 8s fid, fat heifers £3 15s, cows £5, Jersey weaner heifers £3 10s, others £1 to £1 10s according to quality, bulls £2 10s to £6. WAIKATO MARKET. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Company report:—At Hamilton on Thursday we had a good yarding of cattle, sheep and pigs, most of which was cleared. Beef was again in fair supply, but hardly reached last, week’s values. Cows made from £7 2s fid to £8 ss; lighter weights £4 10s to £6 10s; store cows 35s to £2 15s. A line of fair quality 2 and 2J-year steers failed to justify the owner’s anticipation at auction, but were afterwards disposed of at £5 15s; 18months steers made to £3 15s; for fair quality heifers of the same age £2 15s to £3 3s. Calves showed a rather improved tone, and made from 15s to 335,, according to size and quality. Springing ’heifers, best, made to £l2 10s, others £6 to £8 10s. Fat sheep were in fair quality, and sold at ruling nates. Wethers 18s fid to 22s fid, ewes 16s to 22s 6d, lambs 15s 3d to 21s, forward ewes Ils 3d to 12s 6d, store lambs 9s fid.
